Programs and Services
Chabad at Columbia University is pleased to announce the purchase of a new student center located at 625 W. 113th Street (between Broadway and Riverside). The new center hosts a library, classes, meetings, workshops, lectures, individualized study, special events, and is an open, welcoming space for students to hang-out or study.
The student center is a work in progress and welcomes all student and alumni suggestions to improve the space. Programs and services will be continually upgraded and updated on this website, so check in periodically to see what's new.
WEEKLY LEARNING
SINAI SCHOLARS SOCIETY
Each semester, twenty fellows are chosen to be a part of a national campus fellowship involving an innovative program of study and activities. Through the Sinai Scholars Society, Chabad at Columbia University offers a fresh and exciting context for Jewish life and learning on university campuses and continues to offer alumni fellows learning opportunities through national retreats, alumni classes, and opportunities to learn from some of the most influential figures in the broader Jewish community.
WORKSHOPS
This series of hands-on-workshops are uniqe to Chabad's philosophy of education - the teachings are 'near to you that you may do it'. Education that remains in the classroom is not as likely to be integrated into life experience as the type of educating where the student is engaged in his/her entirety. Participation in all workshops is free for students, faculty and administration; there may be a nominal fee to take home some projects.
SERVICES
Chabad at Columbia University is known as the 'warmest home away from home.' In addition to the home-like services provided (e.g., chicken soup on a chilly Friday night and an abundance of children's artwork on display), come make yourself at home in the warm and inviting Chamoy Family Library - bring your homework, borrow a book, and connect to wireless internet access.
Interested in the ritual of mezuzah or tefillin? Have questions? Come get answers. The Rabbi can connect you with a free mezuzah loan or a gift fund for a new pair of tefillin.
Chabad at Columbia University has partnered with Mayanot and birthright israel. These programs offer qualifying Columbia students FREE TRIPS TO ISRAEL! if you are between 18-26 and never joined a formal tour group to Israel, you may qualify. Please call us for more information.
Chabad's new Blue Room is influenced by the spirituality of Tzfat, Israel and designed to serve as a contemplative and meditative space. Students are invited to enjoy the Blue Room- open day and night!
